Donna N Jay
Donna Jay has had a passion for Stroke Nursing since 2009. She holds a Masters of Advanced Nursing plus a graduate certificate of health Science Stroke Management specialisation, and is a Neurovascular Board Certified Registered Nurse and Board Certified Advanced Stroke Coordinator. She is the Rural representative on the NSW Stroke Network executive committee, a member of the NSW Rural Stroke Network and chair of the NSW Stroke Network Nursing and Allied Health Professional Development Committee. Donna is also a Living Stroke Guideline content expert with the Stroke Foundation, updating the Living Clinical Guidelines for Stroke Management in Australia.
Donna has been the Rural Stroke Coordinator/CNC at Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital since 2014. This role oversees stroke services in the Shoalhaven District, and includes Telestroke, Domiciliary Stroke Service (an outpatient service), overseeing daily stroke unit care, and two smaller satellite Hospitals, plus updating pathways and policies. Donna provides expert advice on strategic planning for Stroke in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District, creating and implementing the ED and Nursing stroke pathways, in addition to currently working on a district medical stroke pathway. She is also involved in research projects both locally and participates in multi-site research projects. Donna is passionate in ensuring that we plan for the future stroke services ensuring innovative and evidence-based patient centred care.
