Julie Davey
Julie Davey is a Stroke Survivor and passionate speaker, writer, consumer consultant and advocate in the areas of social justice and evidence based co-designed care, particularly in regard to Stroke.
Julie holds a Master of Management degree and was a senior executive in the Community Health; Acquired Brain Injury; Community Aged, Rehabilitation and Disability Services in Victoria for over twenty-five years, as well as being a consultant to the field, prior to experiencing multiple undiagnosed brain stem strokes in one night in April 2015. Drawing on her experience as a patient/consumer and her previous work as a health leader, Julie is now a passionate advocate for consumer empowerment and involvement in their own Stroke care, in quality improvement of care and support systems, policy development, governance, advocacy and research. Julie is currently involved in a range of research projects focusing on improving stroke care, rehabilitation, and life after stroke including:

2. Membership of the Advisory Council for the NOVELL (New & Optimised Virtual Environments Living Lab) Project, Florey Institute of Neuroscience & Mental Health Oct 2019 – Present
3. Membership of Stroke Foundation Living Stroke Guidelines Content Steering Committee 2019– Present
4. Co-Researcher, with Professor Coralie English, Professor Avril Drummond (UK), and Dr Dawn Simpson (UON) on the NOTFAST2 (Australian) study
5. Membership of POLAR-AuSCR Data Linkage Project Understanding the prevention and long-term management of stroke by general practitioners. Translational Public Health and Evaluation Division, Stroke and Ageing Research Group, School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health.
