Digital technology is rapidly advancing and offers significant promise in the field of healthcare. Despite rising digital capability, the successful integration of digital services within the health system remains challenging, and many health disparities remain. In order to realise the potential of digital health, socio-technical factors related to access, reach, equity, human behaviour and technical capability must be considered. This presentation will reflect on learnings from an established digital mental health service, developed in 2012 to deliver evidence-based psychological therapies via the internet. Considerations related to implementing, governing, sustaining and evaluating a digital health service in the Australian health ecosystem will be discussed.
